Scope of Work
Wiluna Operations Pty Ltd (WMX) has engaged GR Engineering to undertake a turnkey (EPC) contract for the design, engineering, procurement and construction for Stage 1 of their Sulphides Ore Concentrate Plant involving the design and construction of a 750,000 tonne per annum gold concentrator and concentrate filtration plant at their Wiluna gold operations in Western Australia.
The Project is located within the Northern Yilgarn, in the Mid West region of Western Australia. The nearest capital city is Perth, 750 kilometres to the southwest, with the closest regional centres being Kalgoorlie, 540 kilometres to the south, and Meekatharra, 183 kilometres to the west. Access from Meekatharra is via the Gunbarrel Highway.
WMX currently process oxide ore to produce gold dorê. Based on the current operating schedule, the oxide ore resource will be consumed in the latter part of 2021. In order to continue the Wiluna gold operations, WMX intends to transition to mining sulphide ore and upgrade the existing process plant in order to process the sulphide ore.
The sulphide processing plant is designed to operate at the conclusion of oxide ore processing, and is comprised of the following main process areas:
- Crushing (existing);
- Grinding (existing with modification);
- Flotation;
- Concentrate handling;
- Reagents and services.
- The sulphide processing plant will produce a sulphide-rich gold concentrate.
GR Engineering site construction works commenced in March 2021 with the project being commissioned in December 2021.
