Sonora Lithium Project

Scope of Work

Bacanora Lithium PLC have appointed GR Engineering to provide engineering services for the Sonora Project which involves completing engineering, procurement and construction services across the process plant and infrastructure, providing a fully integrated facility design with a number of large specialised process units including pyro and hydrometallurgy to produce lithium from the Sonora clays. The stage 1 facility is currently targeting 17,500t of Li2CO3 product per year.

The Projects is a remote greenfield development and requires the construction of all infrastructure including access roads, fuel, power station and raw water. Further development will include accommodation facilities for construction and operational personnel. The mineral processing plant includes front end milling, calcining and leach, followed by a hydromet plant to recover the lithium from solution. The plant was studied in 2018 with capital costs for the build expected to exceed $400M USD.

GR Engineering have project experience in Mexico and an engineering office in Tuscon Arizona (Hanlon Engineering) that will combine with the GR Engineering office in Brisbane Australia to deliver the scope.
