Scope of Work
The scope of the Mission South Expansion Project included the installation of grinding, flotation, thickening and ancillary equipment necessary to increase the South Mill design capacity from 19,000 TPD to 31,000 TPD. The project included engineering, procurement assistance and construction management (EPCM), that involved the installation of two additional 16½’ x 19' ball mill circuits, replacement of rougher flotation cells and a new 120ft high-capacity tailing thickener. In addition, a 60' x 160' warehouse were erected at the South Mill site.
GRES (formerly HEA) provided detailed engineering, procurement assistance of equipment and supplies, and construction management.
The Project goal to increase the nominal capacity of the Mission South Concentrator from 19,000 TPD to 28,000 TPD with minimal disruption to the existing operation was accomplished using a plant availability factor of 90%, the mill design capacity is 31,000 TPD. This evolved into the assistance with two primary crusher design options over a course of a few years looking at alternatives for replacement of just the crusher into an existing dump pocket and existing infrastructure versus installation of a new crusher into a wholly new crusher infrastructure’.
